PPSCNY is here for the 16 year old who will be a fine mother at 22 or 32, if she can delay child bearing until she has a chance to grow up and finish school. PPSCNY is here for the young couple who are working more than two jobs in the ongoing struggle to feed and clothe their three children, and who cannot afford another child. PPSCNY is here for the middle aged woman who know she should have a yearly exam but has no insurance coverage.
The majority of PPSCNY patients cannot afford to pay the full cost of services and rely on our subsidized care. In 2008, we anticipate that even more patients will come to PPSCNY for their health care. The costs of providing that care are substantially increasing. In the past, government grants have covered a critical part of the costs of providing care, but for 2007 our government funding has been frozen at 1995/1996 year's level. We are proud of our no frills operating budget, but this leaves nowhere to cut, and our patients cannot afford to pay more.
