In the United States, according to the Guttmacher Institute, about half of all pregnancies are unintended, and 42% of unintended pregnancies end in abortion. While teen pregnancy rates in the U.S. have declined for a decade, they still are higher than in most developed countries. Nearly 750,000 American teens are expected to become pregnant this year.
